Editorial Standards

Our framework for attribution, verification, labelling and the separation of news, analysis, opinion and first-person work.

Attribution

Every aggregated item names its publisher and links to the original article. We publish short summaries for identification only and never reproduce full articles. Aggregated material is never presented as original Curated Humanity reporting.

Labelling

  • News — reported information attributed to an identified publisher.
  • Analysis — interpretation built on sourced material.
  • Opinion — the argument of a named author.
  • First person — lived experience told by the person who lived it.

Aggregated news shows the label the publisher's own feed indicates (for example an opinion byline); where none is indicated it is shown as news from that publisher. Curated Humanity also uses two content types of its own:

  • Desk-researched feature — an original explainer written by the editorial desk from cited public records. Not field reporting; no interviews.
  • Aggregated news — headlines, short permitted excerpts and links collected automatically from identified publishers.

Voices are first-person accounts by Palestinians who were in Gaza at the time, linked to their original publishers.

Automation and AI use

  • News is collected automatically every 10 minutes from the sources listed on the Sources page and the Feed status page.
  • Relevance, categories, duplicate detection and front-page ranking are decided by fixed, rule-based code — Palestine relevance, number of independent outlets, source type and recency, with a limit on how often one publisher can lead. No editor reviews this ranking.
  • Palestine Today and The Weekly Dispatch are assembled by the same rules and are labelled as automated selections.
  • No headline, excerpt, summary, quotation or image on this site is generated by an AI model. Excerpts are the publisher's own feed text, trimmed and cleaned of formatting.
  • AI-assisted tools were used in building and maintaining the website's code. Features are researched from the cited sources and checked against them before publication.

Verification

We do not publish quotations, statistics, casualty figures, documents or images we cannot trace to an identified source. Where a claim is contested, we say who is making it. Where we do not know, we say so.

Contributors

Every original contribution identifies its author, the publication and update dates and the content type. Contributor biographies are published only for real, named contributors. Current features are credited to the Curated Humanity editorial desk. We do not publish anonymous work without a stated reason.

Corrections

Errors are corrected openly and marked with the date and time. See corrections to read the process or request one.
